About me

Olayombo Margaret Banwo is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, Oyo State. Her research interest includes: Isolation, structure elucidation and structure-activity relationships of bio-active natural products; Essential oil Characterization of Medicinal plants; Antimicrobial, anticancer and antioxidant activity of extracts, compounds and essential oils; Computational Phytochemistry and Synthesis (New area of interest). She is a beneficiary of several grants such as BMBF/DAAD, PACN-RSC and AGNES-PAWS Mobility grants. She is a DAAD alumna and member of several professional bodies including the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK and a member of the Chemical Society of Chemistry, Nigeria, a member of Society of Essential Oils Distillers and Analysts, Nigeria and a member of Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World.

Olayombo Maragret Banwo (nee Taiwo) is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, Oyo State. She holds a PhD in Organic/ Natural Products Chemistry (2024), B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemistry (2012) and Organic Chemistry (2016), respectively, from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Her research interests include:
* Isolation, structure elucidation and structure-activity relationships of bioactive natural products.
* Essential oil Characterisation of Medicinal plants
* Antimicrobial, antioxidant activity, anticancer activities of extracts and essential oils.
* Computational Phytochemistry.
She has hands-on experience with the use of Chromatographic and Spectroscopic equipment (HPLC, LC-MS and NMR).
She participated in the PACN-RSC LC-MS training: A hands-on Approach funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana in 2024. Also, participated in the Phytochem project funded by BMBF/DAAD at Egerton University, Njoro Kenya in 2019.
She is a beneficiary of the AGNES-PAWS Mobility grant in 2019. In 2022, she was awarded a DAAD research grant, which she utilised at the University of Münster, Germany. She is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK; a member of the Chemical Society of Chemistry, Nigeria; a member of Society of Essential Oils Distillers and Analysts, Nigeria and a member of Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World.
Her goal is to be a renowned researcher, contributing positively to the field of science.
